Cahil is one of my very best friends from the Disney College Program (what what DCP Fall 2012!) and in life in general...and he came to visit my hometown of Nashville! We met as coworkers at the Wildlife Express Train at Disney's Animal Kingdom and bonded over our love for nerdy things, talking relationships, and adoring Taylor Swift.
So I can't sleep! Instead of looking on Instagram and Vine for another hour (ha!), I thought I share my latest adventure!
I was so excited to see him because we have so many good memories and adventures together. Plus he lives in California, so we don't get to see each other that often. It was super cool to be able to spend almost a week together!
I have a lot of pride in my city, so it was fun to show it off to Cahil. He loved Nashville a lot, which made me SO happy! We went basically everywhere: 12 South, Downtown on Broadway, Midtown and Demonbruen, East Nashville, and Brentwood (my neck of the woods :P).
Luckily for me, Cahil was super stoked about trying new restaurants and coffee shops. We also watched a Nashville Sounds baseball game, which I highly suggest - the stadium is so cool! Plus, Cahil taught me all about baseball!
Cahil works for a music label out in Cali called Pure Noise Records and he came to the city for a few work related projects. It was so cool to see what his job entails and get to experience the perks of working in the music world!
Hi all! I know many of you who read this blog are promising and hopeful CP and PI interns. I wanted to extend a few ways you can contact me for any questions or comments you may have:
As for hotels, we started at the Hard Rock, which is a long time favorite of everyone's. Then, me, Drew, and his brother stayed in Cabana Bay - super fun and cool! Last, we moved to Coronado Springs at Walt Disney World. We really liked this hotel and the pool was sooooo dope!
We also got to see the new Hocus Pocus show starring the Sanderson Sisters. Holy smokes, it is soooooooooo good! I would pay to just see that!
We ended Fall Break with a weekend trip up to the Outer Banks. I had never been before, but it was always on my to do list. I ADORED the Outer Banks and want to go back as soon as possible. We saw wild horses and a bald eagle; we went swimming in the ocean and star gazed at night; we had delicious meals with all of Drew's closest friends. It was a really nice way to end such a GREAT vacation!
The wedding took place at S Bar S Barn in Lakeland, FL, which isn't too far from Orlando. Sarah and her now husband met in Lakeland (they are high school sweethearts), so it was a fitting place for their ceremony! The wedding was so beautiful and much like something I would want for my own wedding: on a pretty open farm, a barn to hosts the guests, nods to nature (love the tree cookies!), purples and yellows, and most importantly loads of food and dancing! =D
But my favorite part was this mini reunion that happened! It was SO nice to see my fellow troop leaders all dressed up, stuff our faces with delicious barbeque, and dance the night away!
Also, here are just some random photos from the past month to give you a glimpse into the ever busy life of Brittany Madden! =)
6. BOOKED MY TRIP TO DC!!! I'll be celebrating my 25th with my sweet Drew in our nation's capital. What's more patriotic than that? :P
7. And speaking of Drew, he is coming for a mini vacation tomorrow! We are going to have so many adventures!
So yeah, life is good <3
Every fall season, I have all these grand plans: pick for apples, paint pumpkins, go to all the haunted houses! However, October has always been a very busy month for me, even as a little gal. As you all know, I am incredibly busy here at Disney.
But I got so lucky this Halloween season because I did a ton! I got in the Halloween spirit in late September with Mickey's Not So Scary, which is probably my favorite thing to do at Disney! Then, I got spooked at Halloween Horror Nights with my Drew and co. I also have been watching the new season of American Horror Story and The Walking Dead, which are both super intense this season!
I was blessed by the Halloween gods, and my "weekends" officially switched to Fridays and Saturdays, starting ON Halloween!!! To celebrate, me, Steven, and roomies Erin and Steph went to Fort Wilderness Campground to trick-or-treat. After that, we headed to our pal Zak's house for a good ole fashion costume party. It was a great way to kick-start my new days off! =D
We had the best time Halloween night! And to recoup, we went and had a roomie breakfast at First Watch! <3
Currently, I am watching one of my favorite shows The Walking Dead, and what better way to use the commercial breaks than to blog! And it is time for Part Two of my crazy, fun, and amazing ALL THE VISITORS adventures. =D
So, while showing Miss Katelyn around, who do I see? Oh, only my CP roommates Bri and buffalo soul sista Betsey!!! It was a perfect moment, and I am so glad I spotted them. They have heard so much about my niece, so to have them all finally meet was wonderful. We then decided to all grab sandwiches at Earl's, which was the cherry on top of this most lovely night. =)
We had even more adventures that took us to Downtown Disney for some grub at Earl's (duh =P), the Poly for DOLE WHIPS, and then Sea Dogs for some late night brews and apps. (Plus, then we ran into even more of my pals Mike, Steve, and Tyler, and joined tables with them!) So glad I was able to catch up with Marya and Cahil, and hear all about their lives. And shout out to Cahil for literally living the rock star life. So, so, so proud of him! (PS: And thanks for the freebie gear! =P)
This picture is VERY exciting because it shows half of THE GREAT EIGHT!! For those who do not know, The Great Eight are the eight coolest chicks that accidentally become roommates on the Fall 2012 DCP and fell in love. We were seriously all meant to be in each other lives, and truly my life personally has been SO changed by each of them. Some of my best LIFE memories include The Great Eight (or #28101 as we are also known. What up Chatham life!), and I have been dying for a reunion since they sad day I left them.
Although we are missing four other gals, the fact we could wrangle up each others amidst our busy, busy, busy schedules and met for (what else?! =P) Ghirardelli's was THE BEST. Can't wait for our next and TOTAL reunion! I'm looking at you Cali come next August ;)
The other day, I shared some photos of my life outside of work. Today, I thought it would be fun to talk about some of the incredible things I have been doing as the Conservation Education Operations Intern. (Say the three times fast =P)
Tuesday was a very magical day because: 1) I was in a very good mood, 2) our manager brought us each cookies, popcorn, and a 2015 calendar to our weekly meeting, 3) I WON A GSF DRAWING!!!! (Every so often they draw winners from the GSF box, and my card was picked!! I was awarded 2 quick service meal vouchers, 2 movie tickets, 2 popcorn coupons, and 2 drink coupons. HOW COOL?! =D), and 4) I attended a networking/drawing event for a special day....
...and that special day was when I got to officially be a guest speaker on the Meet the Professional Intern panel!!! It is was a total surprise I even got selected. Apparently we were all hand chosen by our Disney recruiter for our energy, personalities, and journey to "PI-hood." So, that in itself was a HUGE honor and the highest of compliments.
As never being a panelists before, I was thankful for Tuesday's meeting. The recruiting team hosting the event were SUPER helpful and gave me a lot of tips I would not have thought of other wise. They also surprised us with some DCP swag, like a sweet blanket!!
The panel was two days later and hosted at The Commons. (If you are or were a CP, it was in the room were the sometimes have grocery bingo or other housing events.) The first hour consisted of a group-led panel, in which we answered questions from our moderator and the audience. We were all trained to be mindful of how we answer the questions, making sure not too cut someone off, answering too much or too little, trailing or going on, and always using Disney nomenclature.
To be honest, I was a little nervous at first. However, because all my internships have been so life-changing and positive for me, it was great to be able to share my story with fellow interns and CPs. Plus, I really love my program and it was great to be able to brag about it. I used my best persuasion skills to convince the crowd to adore spiders as much as I do now, and everyone loved when I shared my team's motto of "always assume good intent."
Next up was an hour where the audience could meet us PIs in person and pick our brains so-to-speak. I had interns approach my the entire night, asking were thoughtful questions and seemed super excited about the Presenter programs. It was so much fun getting to talk to them one-on-one and I hope to see many of them as future Troop Leaders!
A permanent believer that "Adventure is out there" and a DAK girl for life!
