PS: I forgot to mention that today at work a DUCK hit me in the face!! It was bound to happen at some point! =P
But it has been nice to get to know my surroundings a little bit more, such as finding the best happy hour spots (Hello Sea Dogs!) and fun nightlife (Downtown and Howl at the Moon).
Lately, I have found myself watching a lot of movies. Typically, I am a TV gal. Normally, I wouldn't consider myself a commitment-phobe in any other realm, but movies I have a hard time committing too! I think it is the now norm two hour movie lenths. (Hence why I LOVE movie that is only an hour and a half!)
Back to the movies I have been watching lately. I have watched two films that are so great...maybe even making the list of my all-time favorite movies. I enjoy watching films that have the power to change your mindset, and both of these movies did just that.
The first is Like Crazy. Have you ever watched a film that really stuck with you? Yeah, Like Crazy was that film for me. And I will be honest, it is sad. It doesn't end perfectly wrapped up in a bow. But it is just so, so, so good...and brutally honest, which eternal optimists like me need to see sometimes. =)
Last night, me and my lovely cousin Lindsey watched About Time. Unlike, Like Crazy, this film was sugary sweet and a total love-fest and ended as the most beautifully wrapped present under the prettiest Christmas tree. That being said, it was in no way predictable. It was unique and heart warming. About Time had a really refreshing and restorative aspect to it, and both of us ladies LOVED it. Plus, Rachel McAdams is in it, and the romance genre is what she does best. This film may even rival her Allie from The Notebook!
Yesterday I was able to check a couple of things off my bucket list, specifically at Hollywood Studios! Plus I finally got to hang out with my best friend/twin Mike and an old CP buddy Steve, so double cool! I finally saw the Indiana Jones Stunt Show and (two!) American Idol experiences! ANDDDDD it wasn't even on my list, but I also saw a bunch of adorable kiddos pledge the Jedi Oath at the Jedi Academy, and I almost died of their cuteness. I think this is my favorite thing to watch at HS now, ha!
My night ended by going somewhere else I've never been: downtown Orlando! It was one of my fellow explorer's birthday, and we celebrated it big time. Perfect way to spend a Wednesday night! :)
All my life, I have been a girl's girl and all about some Girl Power! My best friends have always been and will always be ladies. I especially like girls with the same name as me! ;) (What up my bestie Brittanys?!!) Although I do have some great, lovely, and fantastic guy bffs, I will always root for the gals. :)
And as an official girl's girl, I obviously am a HUGE supporter of Galentine's Day. I could explain it, but I rather quote one of my most beloved ladies Leslie Knope: "February 14th, Valentine's Day, is about romance. But February 13th, Galentine's Day, is about celebrating lady friends. It's wonderful and it should be a National Holiday."
I celebrated this year's Galentine's Day with 2/3 of my Disney roomies. We decided on a lovely Cuban+Spanish restaurant in the heart of Celebration, Florida called Columbia. We each ordered various tapas and split a pitcher of cava sangria, which SO reminded me of my time in Barcelona. It was a very lovely evening, and the food was incredible. (PS: Although I definitely recommend this restaurant, I suggest going at lunch because dinner is a tad pricey.)
Besides the delicious food and gal-pal session, I was also so happy to visit Disney's acclaimed city! I've been toying around with the idea of staying in Florida for a longer period of time, but one of the biggest "I don't know"s I have is the fear of missing the small town charm you find in Kentucky and Tennessee.
I feel like God or the universe has been listening intently on my thoughts, prayers, and worries, because I keep getting shown positive signs when I have doubts. In this instance, Celebration reminded me that Florida isn't all about the hustle and bustle; that is does offer some Pleasantville-like atmosphere, which I so enjoy. I just like living in a city where the people are friendly and naturally caring, say for instance like Nashville! And I think Celebration could offer some of those same characteristics! :)
Haha, so this post got a little off-topic, so let me wrap it back up with some more Galentine's Day love. I just want to thank every lady that has impacted my life, because without you all, I wouldn't be the woman I am today. I'm talking to you Mom, all my aunts and cousins, best friends Brittany and Brittany, Miss Katelyn, all my Kentucky gal pals, my Barcelona host mom Cristina, female professors (especially my professional idol Dr. Darbi), THE GREAT EIGHT (DCP Fall 2012, wha wha!), my new PI roomies, my female Wilderness Explorerssss, the rest of my new lovely lady friends I've made during "Brittany Takes Disney: Part Two!", and basically any other gal out there. Because remember, the fiercest lady of them all - the Queen B - said if best when she asked, "Who are we?! What we run?! We run the world!! Who run the world? GIRLS!" :)
I just love that as a Disney cast member, you can waste time by going into the parks. Plus, 10 minute waits for Everest makes me heart oh so happy =) PS: Valeria, who works merchandise at DAKL, is convinced that me and Steven will be married in 6 months hahaha! ("I've got my eyes on you two!") In the words of my lovely friend Mark, when we once were in a similar situation, "We love each other very much, but noooo." Ha!
So, I love working Valentine's Day because I get to trick guests into saying their my valentine. Plus, I love love, so it's a pretty perfect holiday for me! AND because I am living the (Disney) dream, I get to do cool things after work, like watch Fantasmic!! (PS: If you haven't seen this, you should as soon as possible, because it will change your life!)
I spent the last two days playing in Magic Kingdom, and it was loads and loads of fun! AND I knocked SO many things off my bucket list, woohoo!! =)
Once upon a time, I was a College Program Intern working at the Wildlife Express Train at Disney's Animal Kingdom. And what I most wanted during this internship was to be rewarded the acclaimed "fanatic card." But as best as I tried and as safe/courteous/show-like/efficient (eh eh, four keys?! =P) I was, I failed to obtain my beloved fanatic card. Or so it seemed....
Flash forwarded to my last week of work, in which I proclaimed, "No! I will never get a fanatic card! My dreams are crushed!" And I truly thought that! But because life is funny and ironic, the very next day, I finally got what my heart desired the most: a fanatic card of course!
It should come as no surprise then that for my second go-around at Disney, these little cards were once again on my mind. Luckily for me, the fanatic card gods were on my side this time. After EXACTLY a month since I began my PI, I received an oh-so lovely fanatic card!! I was of course very excited, and even squealed with joy haha! I am super pumped, and now my goal is to earn another one, yay! =)
Sometimes you talk so much as a Wilderness Explorer, your vocal chords get shot and you sound like a 30 year smoker. But then you go out anyways, buy cheap food and drinks, sing karaoke ("Backstreets back, all right!"), make new friends, yell over the club music, and dance the night away. Definitely not the best way to heal said haggard vocal chords, but hey it's a gooooood time! :)
PS: If any former CPs were wondering, Bdubs still has it going on! ;)
A permanent believer that "Adventure is out there" and a DAK girl for life!
